Dubuque, Iowa · Est. quiet luxury

The slow ritual for better skin.

A serene treatment room where every facial, lash and brow is performed with the precision of a clinician and the calm of a long exhale. Step in, lie down, and let the day fall away.

Our studio

Where the work happens in quiet.

Essentials is a small, intentional studio in Dubuque. We don't run a packed schedule, rotate therapists, or sell you a routine you don't need. We book longer, talk less, and treat the face in front of us — not the trend of the month.

Each appointment begins with a conversation about your skin, what it's doing lately, and what you'd like it to do. Then we cleanse, treat, and finish with the kind of slow hands-on work that makes you remember what an hour of stillness feels like.

You leave with skin that looks rested and a face that feels like yours — only softer.

What we do

Treatments, thoughtfully done.

Four focused services, each performed by the same steady hand from consultation to close.

01

Facials & Skincare

Customized facials, gentle peels, and extractions for skin that wants to behave. We analyze before we touch, and we build the protocol around what your face is doing that week.

02

Lashes & Brows

Lash lifts, tints, brow shaping and lamination — work that earns its place in your morning mirror. Natural in daylight, defined in evening light.

03

Makeup

Event makeup and lessons for the woman who wants to look like herself on her best day. Skin-first application, soft lines, photography-ready finish.

04

Waxing

Clean, efficient hair removal with hard wax suited to sensitive skin. Quick appointments, minimal redness, results that last three to four weeks.

What to expect

An hour that belongs to you.

You arrive, you change into a robe that smells like warm cotton, and the door closes behind the rest of your week. A double cleanse, a careful analysis, and a treatment built for your skin's actual mood — not a menu item assigned in advance.

We finish with a moment of stillness while a cool mask sets, then walk you to the mirror with nothing pushed, nothing upsold, and a face that looks like a slow Sunday morning.

Common questions

What people ask first.

I'm new to facials. Where do I start?

Book a facial and arrive with a clean face if you can. We'll spend the first ten minutes talking through your skin, your routine at home, and what you're hoping to change. From there we build the protocol in the moment — there's no preset menu.

Do you take walk-ins?

By appointment only. We keep the schedule quiet on purpose so each client has the room to themselves. Same-day bookings are sometimes possible — call us at +1-563-580-5124 and we'll see what's open.

What if I have sensitive skin or react easily?

Tell us in the notes when you book, and mention anything you react to during the consultation. We work slowly, patch-test when there's doubt, and lean on gentle protocols over aggressive ones by default.

How long is a typical appointment?

Facials run about 75 minutes. Lash and brow services are 45 to 60. Makeup is 60 for application, 90 for application plus a lesson. Waxing depends on the area — we'll give you an estimate when you book.

What's your cancellation policy?

We ask for at least 24 hours notice. Life happens — if something comes up, just let us know and we'll find a new time. We hold a card on file only for first-time bookings over an hour.
